Originally from Miami, Maggie is a 19-year-old artist currently living and working in New York City. She was raised by two artist parents and attends the School of Visual Arts, majoring in Visual and Critical Studies. Her work consists of performances, intimate embroideries, large-scale installations, drawings and photography. She focuses on exploring girlhood and womanhood.

My first response was Beyonce of course, but truly, I wouldn’t want to be anyone but myself.
Your heroes?
Girls who refuse to be quiet. Girls who are invalidated. Girls who try really fucking hard to love themselves despite their repression. Girls who are told they complain too much. Girls who take themselves too seriously. Girls who use the tools they have been given. Girls who are disruptive. Bitches.
What is your present state of mind?
Today is Marilyn Manson’s birthday, so I’m thinking about him. Wondering what he’s doing right now.
Bedside table books?
So many at the moment. A collection of Susan Sontag essays, Franny & Zooey, The Bluest Eye, Necrophilia Variations, Justine, Philosophy in the Bedroom, and lots and lots of art books.
What do you do if you can’t sleep at night?
Go on my phone, just like everyone else.
