Tom Batrouney is a photographer based in Sydney. He spends much of his time in oceans and cities. He received his degree in photography from RMIT University in Melbourne and is currently the photo editor and co-founder of Paper Sea Quarterly Magazine. He’s inspired by people, the ocean and faraway places.

Your idea of happiness?

Meeting new people, being challenged and being creative in the ocean and the city.

 

Your idea of misery?

Being the only person in the world.

 

If not yourself, who would you be?

I think I would honestly be myself. That's a shit answer but I think I'm cool.

 

Your heroes?

Stephan Wurth, Miley Cyrus and Russell Brand.

 

What is your present state of mind?

Calm but very much wanting the shit I am working on to HAPPEN NOW!

Umm are there any other books?

 

What do you do if you can’t sleep at night?

Try not to think about all the things I want to do tomorrow.

 

Do you collect?

I collect cameras, vinyl, magazines and surfboards.

 

What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

That people didn't die and that I could grow up to be a photographer.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Take photos, surf or swim and do something with my girl in the nude.

Maybe fish tacos.

John. My Dad calls me 'TJ'.

 

What do you do in your free time?

Take photos, surf, skate and hang with my girl.

 

What inspires you?

People, the ocean and places people don't go often.

 

What do you do for money?

Take pictures and work for a magazine Paper Sea Quarterly as the Photo-Editor. 

 

What do you do for pleasure?

Surf, take pictures and laugh with friends.
